It’s use me, Lord, 2014!

Little Bits of Charm

pick-me-signs2 Are you hiding behind your awesomeness? Afraid of what others might think? Well, it’s time to step into the greatness God has purposed for your life. Don’t waste another second ashamed of your shine. God is a big God and has big plans for you and I. Live everyday on purpose. We are all here not to just pass the time, but to please God in all we do. I want all God has for me, my family, and my friends in 2014. He has called all of us for something bigger than ourselves.

So, stop hiding behind your shyness, “lack” of talents, fear of public speaking, etc. If God called you to do it, He will provide all of the tools you need to succeed. My prayer for me and you is to be all God has purposed us to be. Whatever God has up His sleeves, I want…

He died so that I might live!

Because He died I can live. How many times did they tempt Jesus with, “if you are King of the Jews, save yourself”? He could have done any number of things to avoid the cross, but He didn’t. A man, without sin, gave His life so that you and I could have life. And not just any life, but an abundant one. So, when He asks me to give Him my life, I no longer reject Him. My life is not my own. If it were, I would be able to wake myself up every morning. I would be able to open doors that are closed against me….on my own. But because He died on that old, rugged cross, I can have life. My sins are forgiven. But the story does not end there. Jesus conquered death. He rose on the third day, and is presently, seated at the right of the Father making intercession for you and I. Our big brother is still working on our behalf. He goes before the Father to intercede for us. How beautiful is that! How awesome is He!

I love the stories within the story. One in particular is the story of the two thieves on each side of Jesus. Undoubtedly, they belonged there. Their punishment was deserved. Sound familiar? But one of them, arrogantly I might add, said “If thou be Christ, save thyself AND us.” The other rebukes him, dude, we belong here. Have you no respect? This man has done nothing wrong, but this is what we deserve. And he says to Jesus, “Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.” Jesus promises Him paradise. This is an example of not being treated according to our sins deserve.

Forgiveness is one of the many privileges of the Cross. Jesus died so that we could have everlasting life. We must die daily because our lives don’t belong to us. Dying daily lets God know that we trust His guidance, that we yield control, and that we surrender all to His plan and purpose.

He is RISEN! Happy Easter!

Don’t be a worry wart!

Letting go does not always mean giving up. In just a few short months, I am learning what it really means to trust God. Trusting him requires faith. It also brings about a certain peace that is indescribable. I don’t have to toss and turn all night worrying about a situation nor do I have to have it all figured out. Letting go simply means giving God full control even over the things that you can. I was speaking with a friend the other day and he asked me what does God control, and I stupidly said, everything that I can’t. Knowing full well He controls it ALL, but the words didn’t quite come out right. Even the things that I can do, in the natural, are spirit led.

I read an article yesterday titled, ‘Overcoming Worry: God is in Control’. There were statements within the article that you had to check if you could relate. There were a few that I checked, one being “When someone is distant, I’m constantly concerned about what I might have done wrong”. I had this experience just a few weekends ago.  I knew full well that I had done nothing wrong,  but I allowed certain thoughts to consume me. I worried and prayed about it all weekend long. One of the questions in this article was, Is it possible to worry and still believe that God is fully in control? My answer is, of course not. When I lay my requests at the altar there is no need for me to pick them up again. Me and God can’t both be working on the same problem. In that instance, I’m sure he just sits back and watches me make a bigger mess of things.

Letting go is a sign of strength. It means that no matter the outcome, whatever God decides,  it will be in my best interest. Letting go does not mean putting off what you can do for yourself. Faith without works is still dead, but it is your way of saying to God, “Lord, this matter is out of my control. I cannot control people, certain situations, nor do I choose to. Let your will be done.”

So, I challenge you not to be a worry wart. If you have asked God to handle something, step aside and watch him work.

God says…you are NOT your past.

In today’s ‘God Says’  I wanted to remind myself and others that we are not our past. We all make mistakes, miss opportunities, take others for granted, slack in areas that require full on dedication, and the list continues. At some point in our lives we fail, but thank God that he never does. Let’s also thank God for not having to be defined by our past. There are some who will never let you move forward and will always see you as the person you once were, but I challenge you to shut down their words and keep pressing forward.

You are not your past! Start better habits today. Show love today. Be gracious with your words today. Start living your dreams today. Let go today. Release all regrets today. There is nothing you can do about what was done just 10 minutes ago, but you can make better decisions starting now. I was fortunate enough to see today, and God does not intend for me to focus on something I did in my past, but that I do great things with the precious gift of life he has given me TODAY.

You, my dear, are NOT your past! Start being great today!

Reminder: Psalm 7:17

Psalm 7-17I read Psalm 7:17 this morning, and I thank God for this reminder. Praising God should not be based on anything other than the fact that He is worthy and righteous. It’s not according to how I feel, or even what’s He’s done. We should praise God because of who He is. He is faithful even when I’m not. He is love even when I don’t always love myself. He has never forsaken me even when I have moved from under His covering. God is ALWAYS good and worthy to be praised.

April 2: Morning Prayer with Kway Barnett

IMG_2001Good Morning Beautiful,
Have a blessed day!!!
Morning Prayer, Wednesday, April 2, 2014

Heavenly Father, I don’t always live the way I should. I tell the world about being honest and true and pure. Then sometimes they look at me and run.  When I said I’d be your servant, I thought it would be easier.  I thought you’d take away all my problems and temptations.  I thought I could be the kind of person I tell others they should be.  It doesn’t always work that way, God. I see others having a wonderful time, and I miss being part of that.  I see something shiny off to the side of the path and I go wandering after it without a thought.  Keep my head on right, God.  Keep my eyes focused on Jesus.  Keep my feet on the path.  Keep my heart desiring what is good.  Everything is permissible, but not everything is beneficial.  Help me know the difference.  And when I already know the difference help me make the right choice anyway.  In Jesus Precious name I pray, Amen

1 Corinthians 9:24-27

Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air. But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.

Good Morning Sunshine,
Have a blessed day!!!
Morning Prayer, Tuesday, April 1, 2014
Heavenly Father, forgive me for being judgmental towards others, when I should fervently pray for others. Lord help to open my eyes, so I can see the power that’s in Your word and receive Your word into my heart. Father, help me not to be a sanctimonious, self-righteous, or hypocritical person. Help me to live in the power of Your grace, Your mercy, Your love, and Your goodness. It’s only because of Jesus that I am in right standing with You. Help me to know that Your word is the truth and You will judge me according to your word of righteousness. Thank You Father for helping me to know the difference between the spirit of truth and the spirit of error. Thank You for allowing me to repent when a sin is made. Thank You Jesus for teaching me and showing me the way I should go. In Jesus Holy name I pray, Amen.

Matthew 7:1-5

Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.

Romans 3:23

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

XOXO
