This past weekend I was very anxious about all of the things that I have on my “to do” list. I was also very concerned about a situation that I have been seeking God about. This morning while spending time in the Word and in prayer, God reminded me that one, I don’t have to be concerned about anything that I have asked Him to handle. And two, that everything on my “to do” list may not all be things He is directing me to do. I love how God ministers to my needs on a daily basis. The word of the day from my daily devotional was ‘efficiency’. I am not a fan of being busy for no reason. I want the work that I do to have meaning. The time I spend with people or working on a project to have purpose. But most importantly, I’ve come to a place that whatever I do that it be done for the glory of God. The scripture to support the word of the day can be found in Proverbs 22:29.

I also read the True Woman devotion and the title was “Going from busy to productive in an unusual way”. Talk about being all up in my business. This year alone I have been appointed to a Board position, Treasurer times two, and this weekend I am emceeing a scholarship presentation. I also have volunteer hours that I need to complete, tax research that I need to do for a graduate paper (not everyone at once, but please feel free to take this off my plate), meetings to attend, a very special project God has placed on my heart, and many others…. Not that my life is any busier than anyone else’s, but I was just asking God to help me prioritize everything on my plate. I am truly fortunate to have these opportunities and many others, but I desire not to let be overwhelmed with fear, anxiety, but be able to enjoy them and give my very best in all positions.

As far as the situation I was concerned about, well God led me to Phillipians 4:6. “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” Each day, as I mature in my walk with God, I am reminded that He is in total control. This has afforded me the opportunity to have more peace, teaches me to be a wee bit more patient, and forces me to keep my hand out of the situation. This is not always easy for me. There are times when I just want to take the control back, but I’ve learned that when I do, I only make a bigger mess than before, and ultimately, I end up giving it right back to Him.

I urge you to ask God to direct your steps. I also encourage you to surrender to God every area of your life. It’s not easy, but trust me when I say, it’s harder not to. I am living proof.
